MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Global Defense Technology & Systems Inc. of Virginia has received a $48 million contract to supply the U.S. Marine Corps with Expeditionary Field Kitchens.

GTEC said the five-year contract calls for a maximum of 150 EFKs and includes initial orders totaling more than $21 million. Revenue from the initial orders is expected to be generated in 2011 and 2012, with the remaining funding to be received over the contract's duration.

"As a dedicated mission partner of the U.S. military, we are pleased to continue supporting today's warfighters by designing and fielding highly engineered systems that provide them with every advantage as they carry out their critical national security missions in some of the world's toughest environments," said John Hillen, president and chief executive officer of GTEC.

The EFK is a self-contained, rugged and transportable commercial grade kitchen with the ability to provide deployed troops with 500 meals, three times per day.

GTEC has delivered almost 800 field feeding systems to the U.S. military and those systems are deployed in places such as Afghanistan, Iraq, South Korea and Germany.

All work on the EFKs will be performed at GTEC's integration facility in Easton, Md.
