LGS to support Army communications

HERNDON, Va., Jan. 27 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has selected an Alcatel-Lucent subsidiary to provide the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations with communications support.

Alcatel-Lucent says its Virginia-based LGS subsidiary was selected to support the Project Manager Network Service Center and Project Director Defense Communication Systems-Southwest Asia for the Army.

Under the blanket purchase agreement, LGS will the Army with networking and broadband communications support services among other requirements for ongoing operations in the Southwest Asia Theater.

"LGS has a long track record of providing and delivering network support all over the world for the U.S. Army," Ron Iverson, LGS chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"The ability to deliver reliable and effective broadband communications capabilities is a key part of mission success."
