By Ann Marie Awad

NEW YORK, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Ride-hailing service Uber has announced plans to partner with Munich-based Airbus Group SE to provide on-demand helicopter flights.

Airbus CEO Tom Enders shared the news at a technology conference in Munich on Sunday. The service will be tested at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, later this month. Enders did not say how much rides would cost.

Uber first tested an UberChopper service in 2013 between Manhattan in New York City and the Hamptons in Long Island, N.Y. The Wall Street Journal reported the company has also offered helicopter rides at events such as the Cannes Film Festival or the Bonnarroo Music and Arts Festival. The rides ran for several hundreds to several thousands of dollars.

Bloomberg Business News reported Airbus has struggled with helicopter sales. Enders has tried to spur innovation at its Silicon Valley branch, endowing it with $150 million in venture capital to invest in aerospace startups worldwide.
