Production in Britain rose September to October

LONDON, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Mining and transportation equipment manufacturing pushed Britain's production figures higher in October, the Office of National Statistics said Tuesday.

Production rose 3.2 percent from October 2012 to October 2013, the office said. That reflects a 2.7 percent rise in manufacturing, which is the largest component of British production.

Mining and quarrying, rose 13.4 percent and transportation equipment manufacturing rose 16.8 percent, ONS said.

"The majority of this strength came from the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi trailers," ONS said.

From September to October, manufacturing output rose 0.4 percent as the largest contributor to total production.
