Irwin circular saw blades recalled

WASHINGTON, April 20 (UPI) -- Irwin Industrial Tool Co. of Huntersville, N.C., is recalling 55,260 circular saw blade sets due to ineffective packaging.

Packaging for the Classic Series circular saw blade 3-Pack can allow the blades to slip out of the bottom, which creates a laceration risk for consumers, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The saw blade sets were sold exclusively at Lowe's stores October 2011 through November 2011 for $40, the commission said.

This recall involves Irwin Classic Series 10-inch Circular Saw Blade Limited Promotion 3-Packs, which were sold with one 10-inch trim and finish saw blade with 60 teeth and two 10-inch general purpose saw blades with 40 teeth.

The model number "ICSLD3PK" can be found on the front top right corner of the packages.

Consumers were advised to contact the company to receive a free storage container for the saw blades.

Consumer can call Irwin at 800-464-7946.
