CANBERRA, Australia, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Samsung Electronics, after notching a legal win against Apple, said its Galaxy Tab tablet computer will be available in Australia in time for the holidays.
The Australian High Court in November denied Apple's appeal of a lower court ruling that overturned an injunction placed on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1, citing violation of its patent, CNN reported Friday. The High Court ruling is expected to give the Seoul-based Samsung a stronger position in its legal confrontations with Apple in several countries, including the United States.
"The Full Court of Australia decision on Nov. 30 clearly affirmed our view that Apple's claims lack merit and that an injunction should not have been imposed on the Galaxy Tab 10.1," Samsung said in a release.
The company said its Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available in Australia within a few days.

Apple had alleged the latest Samsung tablet computer mimicked the Apple iPad's look and infringed its design patents.
"It's no coincidence that Samsung's latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging," Apple said in a statement. "This kind of blatant copying is wrong and, as we've said many times before, we need to protect Apple's intellectual property when companies steal our ideas."
About 30 legal cases involving Samsung and California-based Apple are alive in 10 countries worldwide, Sky News reported.
The win in Australia came after Samsung suffered a setback in Paris, where its bid to block sales of Apple's iPhone 4S was rejected by the court.
