CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- A technology industry analyst said U.S. computer and mobile device firm Apple's share of the computer market in the third quarter reached a 15-year high.
Analyst Charlie Wolf at Needham & Co. said the Apple Mac had climbed to 5.2 percent of computer sales, The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.
The report said shipment of Mac computers had grown faster than the industry average in the third quarter for the 22nd consecutive quarter, growing 24.6 percent compared to 5.3 percent.
It is especially noteworthy that Apple's fastest growth region in the third quarter was the Asia Pacific region, which posted 57.2 percent growth in the quarter, the report said.
"The growth of Apple's sales in China represents a perfect storm between an iconic brand and a rapidly growing middle class that's more brand-conscious than consumers in most other regions of the globe," Wolf said.
