LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Online travel agency Orbitz said data shows Los Angeles International Airport is going to be the busiest U.S. travel hub for Thanksgiving this year.

The Thanksgiving holiday is defined as Nov. 23-27 this year. So far, ticket sales indicate passenger numbers at LAX will be higher than at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, which was the businesses hub for Thanksgiving 2010, The Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

Orbitz did not divulge numbers, but said O'Hare would be the second busiest airport for this year's November holiday, while Orlando International in Florida, San Francisco International and Logan International in Boston would be the next busiest airports.

The Times suggested alternative airports would reduce congestion while traveling. For example, John Wayne Airport 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles is expected to be among the least busy airports, the Times reported.
