Prosecutors question Kia officials

SEOUL, April 10 (UPI) -- Prosecutors questioned executives of a Hyundai affiliate in South Korea Monday in an expanding slush-fund scandal.

They also want to speak with Hyundai Chairman Chung Mong-koo and his son Chung Eui-sun, president of Kia Motors, next week on the matter, the Korea Times reported.

Hyundai is suspected of raising secret funds to bribe politicians and bureaucrats for business favors and unlawfully transferring company wealth to the founding family, the newspaper said.

Prosecutors believe Chung Mong-koo and his son are involved but say they want more evidence before calling them for questioning.
