WASHINGTON, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Freddie Mac said Friday long-term mortgage rates fell to their lowest level in five weeks during the latest reporting week -- indicating a strong year for home purchases. Freddie Mac said the average rate on the popular 30-year loan to homebuyers fell to 7.06 percent from 7.14 percent last week and from the 7.16 percent level lenders were asking two weeks earlier.
