Mortgage rates fall

WASHINGTON, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Freddie Mac on Friday reported that long-term mortgage rates retreated during the latest reporting week in a correction to the market's overreaction to mixed economic indicators, which caused rates to rise sharply during the previous week. Freddie Mac said the average rate on the 30-year loan to homebuyers dropped to 6.84 percent from 7.02 percent last week.
