Mortgage rates inch higher

WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Freddie Mac on Friday reported that long-term mortgage rates rose slightly for the second consecutive week but the overall homeownership rate for the third quarter rose to an all-time high. Freddie Mac said the average rate on the 30-year loan to homebuyers inched up to 6.64 percent from 6.61 percent last week but the overall homeownership rate for the third quarter of this year rose to 68.1 percent of U.S. households.
