OAKLAND -- What does Tom Hostetler have to do to earn a promotion? Last week, the San Francisco minor leaguer struck out 17 in a game for the Giants' Clinton team of the Class A Midwest League.

This week, Hostetler pitched a perfect game for 8-1/3 innings and finished with a one-hit, 12-strikeout performance.

Hostetler, a 23-year-old right-hander is 6-0 with an 0.60 ERA in six starts. Hostetler has struck out 66 in 45 innings while allowing three earned runs, 12 walks and 21 hits.
