BATON ROUGE, La. -- The NCAA should complete its 2 -year preliminary inquiry into the university's athletic department by mid-summer, said Louisiana State Athletic Director Bob Brodhead.
Brodhead said NCAA investigators were on LSU's campus two weeks ago to question athletes. Two former LSU players, Donald 'Lucky' Polk of New Orleans and Clyde Bishop of Houston, maintained in 1984 that wealthy LSU alumni made cash payoffs and gave other illegal gifts to athletes. LSU officials have denied the allegations.
