NEW YORK -- Bjorn Borg received a second death threat during his match with John McEnroe Sunday and was immediately escorted home from the U.S. Open Tennis Championships by a unit of New York City police.

Police reported that a male caller phoned the stadium at approximately 4:45 p.m. EDT, which would have been just after Borg won the first set against McEnroe, and said, 'I'm gonna' shoot him when he walks back on the court.'

At the end of the match, Borg decided to go directly to the locker room and then home while escorted by police.

He refused to submit to any interviews.

Borg received a death threat Saturday before his semifinal match against Jimmy Connors, and was told of that threat after the match.
