HOUSTON, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- In advance of the approaching NBA trade deadline on Thursday, the rumors about Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo have been coming fast and furious.
The latest team rumored to be interested in acquiring the volatile player is the Houston Rockets.
In the past 24 hours, FoxSports.com's Sam Amico and ESPN's Marc Stein have both reported that Celtics general manager and Rockets GM Daryl Morey have been actively involved in discussions regarding Rondo, although the exact terms of any potential deal are unclear.
Sources familiar w/Rockets' thinking say HOU has absolute interest in trading for Rajon Rondo. But that alone doesn't mean we'll see a deal— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 19, 2014
Close relationship between Danny Ainge and Daryl Morey means talks are always easy to fire up but Celts' demands for Rondo are very high— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 19, 2014
Any trade would likely be centered around Houston point guard Jeremy Lin and include another Houston player such as Omer Asik, Chandler Parsons and/or draft picks.
Celtics got a first for Doc Rivers and multiple firsts for Pierce/KG, as covered today on Stein Line Live. For Rondo they'll want even more— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 19, 2014
Celtics, I'm told, would insist on Chandler Parsons in a theoretical Rondo deal. And Rockets, by all accounts, NOT willing to surrender CP— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 19, 2014
These rumors come on the heels of reports that the Celtics would only be willing to part with Rondo for two unprotected first-round draft picks.
