Erin Andrews on Richard Sherman rant: 'We want someone to lose their minds like that'

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews continued to defend the Seattle Seahawks cornerback ahead of Sunday night's Super Bowl game.

“I don’t think it was bizarre, I think it was great,” Andrews said of Richard Sherman's post-game theatrics, which took the Internet by storm after the Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 19.

“I wish more athletes would be like that," Andrews told Fox's Media Buzz Sunday morning. "We want someone to lose their minds like that…That’s why it went viral, that’s why people were going bananas over it. You don’t usually see athletes doing that. You see them very composed.”

Sherman's now-notorious interview with Andrews led to a range of reactions. Some criticized Sherman for being "unsportsmanlike," while others defended his right to be passionate and cited Crabtree's poor post-play attitude.

“Well I’m the best corner in the game,” Sherman said during the brief interview. “When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you gonna get. Don’t you ever talk about me!"

Andrews spoke to Sherman again during Fox's pre-Super Bowl show.

When asked if he regretted the incident, Sherman said, "Just the way I attacked [Crabtree].

"That was uncalled for," he said.
