'Very good progress' at Iranian nuclear negotiations

U.S. and Iranian officials commented on the status of nuclear negotiations taking place in Geneva, saying that all parties have made "very good progress."

All parties to the Iranian nuclear negotiation talks in Geneva, Switzerland reported "good progress" during the on-going talks.

U.S. Department of State spokesperson Jen Psaki commented on the status of the negotiations during Friday's daily press briefing.

".. they’re ongoing at this point... As we said before and I said yesterday, these are detailed technical discussions. We’ve made good progress over the last several days. There have been a few outstanding issues, but at this point the reports that everything has been finalized are incorrect. In terms of the status of the talks, as I understood it as I came down, they were ongoing."

Iranian nuclear negotiator and Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyed Abbas Araqchi remarked on the progress of the meetings.

"Final decision-making on remaining issues on the implementation of Geneva agreement will be taken at the capital cities of the negotiating sides and the results will be announced until next two weeks... During two days of intensive talks with Schmidt in Geneva, the solutions to remaining issues on how to implement the Geneva agreement at the level of senior political directors between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) have been studied and summed up."

Negotiations between Iran and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, along with Germany, have been on-going as they hash out details regarding the implementation of the November 24 signed interim nuclear agreement.
