Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Kanye West has made such an art out of narcissism -- describing himself as a "creative genius" and comparing his work to that of police officers -- that his anti-Grammys tirade seems positively rational.

Speaking to his audience at a concert in Phoenix, Ariz., on Tuesday, the 36-year-old rapper questioned the Grammys nominations process. Despite rave reviews for Yeezus, West's highly anticipated follow up to 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, he only garnered two nods this year -- Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song.

West thought he deserved a spot in one of the marquee categories, like Best Album of the Year.

"I'm 36 years old, and I have 21 Grammys. That's the most Grammys of any 36-year-old. Out of all of those 21 Grammys, I've never won a Grammy against a white artist," West said. "Now let's bring it back to Michael Jackson days when he couldn't get his video played because he was considered to be urban."

So when the Grammy nominations come out, and Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list but only gets two nominations from the Grammys, what are they trying to say? Do they think that I wouldn't notice? Do they think that, some way, that I don't have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment?
