Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Taylor Kitsch's hoped-for transition from small-screen heartthrob to big-time film star has not gone as well as planned. But that doesn't mean he's willing to resort to a Friday Night Lights movie.

Despite years of reports of a possible feature film -- based on the NBC series based on a movie based on a non-fiction book -- the 32-year-old action star recently told Vulture that he had no interest in such a project.

I'll just say no. [Slams fist on table.] No, period. I'm not doing it. I'm never gonna be in that movie. There was already a movie! And the show ended f**kin' spot-on. We're good.

Luckily for Kitsch -- and for fans who were happy with the way the series ended -- showrunner Peter Berg seems to have given up hope.

“There’s not gonna be a movie," Berg said. "We talked about it, some people thought it was a good idea, some didn’t; I’ve come to believe it’s probably not a good idea and I seriously doubt it’s gonna happen.”
