Executive producer Jason Katims has recruited another one of his "Friday Night Lights" stars for his ensemble-driven NBC drama, "Parenthood."
TV Line reported Sunday that Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who once played a pensive teen from East Dillon, will join "Parenthood's" fifth season as a "feisty" campaign manager named Heather Hall.
Smollett-Bell, who obviously doesn't suffer from a lack of variety, currently plays a liberal vampire advocate on HBO's "True Blood." She recently starred as an unfaithful marriage counselor in Tyler Perry's "Temptation."
Minka Kelly, Derek Phillips, and Michael B. Jordan are among former "Friday Night Lights" cast members who've turned up on "Parenthood," a family drama based on the 1989 Steve Martin film of the same name.
"Parenthood" returns September 26.
