Meredith Baxter marries Nancy Locke

Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Family Ties star Meredith Baxter married Nancy Locke in an intimate ceremony after a seven-year courtship.

Baxter, 66, and her wife exchanged hand written vows during the ceremony which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.

Music played an important role in the intimate gathering. A friend of the couple sang and played guitar at the ceremony and Locke's band played during the reception.

The brides reportedly took dancing lessons before taking the floor for their first dance as a married couple.

"Now I understand why marriage caught on!" the star told People after the ceremony.

Baxter's five children attended the ceremony. She came out as a lesbian in 2009.
