Oct. 10 (UPI) -- The Toronto Raptors mascot "The Raptor" wont be cheering for his team anytime soon.

According to the Toronto Sun, the mascot will be out for the season after suffering from a torn Achilles during a school visit in Halifax over the weekend.

The team said The Raptor will undergo surgery soon. In the meantime the team is reportedly working on a back-up plan for the rest of the season.

Head coach Dwane Casey says his daughter cried when she learned of the injury and added the Raptor is a valued member of the organization who will be back.
