Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been cleared to return to practice.

He and the rest of the team report to training camp in Richmond, Va., on Wednesday to prepare for their first practice Thursday morning.

The recovery was unexpectedly quick: On Sunday, Griffin was scheduled to have his injured knee extensively examined after his reconstruction surgery in January.

The Redskins had the option to put him on the PUP list moving forward if he had not healed completely, but is reportedly able to move and run without pain. Griffin is determined to play in the season opener on Sept. 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles, and will be able to if he continues to be pain-free.
