Cory Monteith: Matthew Morrison addresses 'Glee' co-star's death during New York performance

Cory Monteith's on-screen teacher and singing coach paid tribute to his late co-star and "brother" during a performance at a Manhattan club on Sunday, the New York Times reported.

Matthew Morrison, 34, changed his opening song to an a capella rendition of "What I Did For Love," a showtune previously performed by Monteith's girlfriend and co-star, Lea Michele, during "Glee's" second season. He called the 31-year-old Canadian actor his brother and held up a two-fingered salute to the audience.

A source told US Weekly that Morrison appeared "very emotional" on stage, and called Monteith a "great young man" and a "beautiful person."

Though Morrison acknowledged that it felt "awkward" to go on with the show so soon after his co-star's sudden and tragic death, he told the audience: "You guys came to see a show, I came to perform a show, so that’s what we’ll do. And we’ll do it in Cory’s honor.”
