Three men deported from Saudi Arabia over being "too handsome"

April 18, 2013 at 11:59 AM

Three men from the United Arab Emirates were expelled from the Jenadrivah Heritage and Culture Festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Sunday over concerns they were too handsome for women to resist.

The Telegraph reports, The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices in Saudi Arabia had the men deported back to Abu Dhabi to prevent women from falling for them.

The UAE said religious officials were anxious over the unexpected presence of an unnamed female artist in the pavilion.

“Her visit to the UAE stand was a coincidence as it was not included in the program which we had already provided to the festival’s management,” Saeed Al Kaabi the head of the UAE festival delegation said in a statement.

It is unclear if the men, who were at the festival as part of UAE's delegation, were deported in relation to the artist's presence.

The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices is Saudi Arabia's religious police and it was established to enforce the country's strict Sharia law.
