NEW YORK, April 11 (UPI) -- Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump can't count on two of his children to vote for him in New York's primary.

Trump revealed on Fox & Friends on Monday that Eric and Ivanka Trump failed to register in time to vote as Republicans in New York's closed primary on April 19.

When Trump was told on the show that his two children weren't registered to vote as Republicans in the state, he responded, "Are the rules in New York unfair as well?"

He said, "They had a longtime register and they were unaware of the rules, and they didn't register in time. So they feel very, very guilty."

He added, "I think they have to register a year in advance, and they didn't. So Eric and Ivanka, I guess, won't be voting."

According to the New York City Campaign Finance Resource Board, residents must complete and submit a registration form to the Board of Elections by Oct. 9, 2015, to vote in that party's primary election. According to the New York State Board of Elections website, "A change of enrollment received no later than 25 days before the general election shall be deposited in a sealed enrollment box and opened the first Tuesday following that general election and entered in the voter's registration record."

Voters must live at their present address at least 30 days before an election. Changes of address must be received at least 20 days before a primary.

Records from the New York State Board of Elections show that Eric, 32, and Ivanka, 34, are registered voters who are "not enrolled in a party," ABC News reported,

Donald Trump Jr., 38, as well as Donald and Melania Trump, are registered Republicans.

Polls show Trump with a wide lead in the state.

A Fox poll released Sunday shows Trump with 54 support among likely GOP voters. John Kasich is second with 22 percent and Ted Cruz third with 15 percent.

Trump, campaigning in New York on Sunday, said the primary election system is corrupt, including for Democrats,

"I watch Bernie," he said Sunday, in reference to Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, who has won eight of the last nine state primaries and caucuses. "He wins, he wins, he keeps winning, winning and winning and then I see he's got no chance. They always say he's got no chance. Why doesn't he have a chance? Because the system is corrupt, and it's worse on the Republican side."
