WASHINGTON, June 18 (UPI) -- Financial disclosure reports reveal former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Eric Cantor are the two wealthiest U.S. House leaders.
Pelosi, a Democrat, is worth at least $24.4 million while Republican Cantor saw his minimum personal wealth rise slightly to nearly $4.4 million in 2012, Politico reported.
GOP House Speaker John Boehner is also a millionaire but his minimum net worth is pegged at roughly $1.9 million.
As speaker, Boehner receives a salary of $223,500 while Pelosi and Cantor are each paid $193,400.
Minority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., reported assets between $78,000 and $296,000 but he has a mortgage of at least $100,000 on his home.
Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., reported between $15,000 and $50,000 in assets and no liabilities.
Learning exactly how wealthy member of Congress are is impossible because they are only required to disclose assets and liabilities in broad ranges.
