GAINESVILLE, Fla., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- A Florida man now faces kidnapping charges after being re-indicted for murder in the disappearance of a former friend, authorities said.

A grand jury Tuesday reaffirmed the murder charge against Pedro Bravo and added the kidnapping charge, The Miami Herald reported.

Bravo, 18, is accused of killing Christian Aguilar, also 18. The two men were last together Sept. 20 at a hardware store in Gainesville where Aguilar was a freshman at the University of Florida. Bravo was a student at nearby Santa Fe College.

Bravo told police he had beaten up Aguilar and left him in a parking lot.

Four days after Aguilar was last seen, police charged Bravo with refusing to provide medical care to a crime victim. On Sept. 28, police charged Bravo with murder after they found Aguilar's backpack hidden in Bravo's residence and blood in his car.

Aguilar's body has not been found.

Authorities did not say why the kidnapping charge was added Tuesday.

Friends said Aguilar and Bravo had been friends at Doral Academy Preparatory School in South Florida but Bravo had become upset when Aguilar started dating Bravo's ex-girlfriend.
