GOP chair says Mitt plan offers specifics

WASHINGTON, June 3 (UPI) -- Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's economic plan for the United States is ripe with details, the head of the Republican Party said Sunday.

Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, denied on CBS' "Face the Nation" that Romney has limited his recipe for success to booting President Obama out of office and letting big business do basically what it wanted.

"If go to mittromney.com, I think you would be stunned if you go to the details of the plan he has out there," said Priebus. "He has been specific."

The major points, Priebus maintained, include across-the-board tax cuts, increased domestic energy development and replacing "Obamacare" with a market-driven healthcare policy.

Priebus said Romney's approach contrasted with Obama's lack of action on the economic front. "He was the promise king," Priebus sniffed. "And he hasn't followed through on any of it, and he went the opposite direction."

Senior Obama adviser David Axelrod told CBS Romney's platform was on shaky ground given what he portrayed as a mediocre performance as a "job creator" while governor of Massachusetts and chief executive officer of the venture capital firm Bain Capital.

"What we're arguing is whether he's qualified to call himself a job creator," said Axelrod. "That's not what he did in his business. That's not the purpose of his business [Bain], and it's certainly not what he did in Massachusetts where they had one of the worst economic records in the country."
