Three dead in medical chopper crash

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- A medical helicopter crashed in central Arkansas Tuesday morning, killing three crew members, Van Buren County sheriff's deputies said.

Air Evac, an independent medical helicopter company in Missouri, confirmed it owned the helicopter, KTHV-TV, Little Rock, reported.

The chopper was en route from Air Evac's base in Vilonia, Ark., to Crabtree, Ark., when it went down near Scotland in Van Buren County.

Arkansas state troopers were at the scene of the crash and the Federal Aviation Administration was notified.

Seth Myers, chief executive officer of Air Evac, said it was a tragic day for his company.

"These were members of our family and we are devastated at this loss," he said.
