JERUSALEM, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Reputed Israeli mob boss Ze'ev Rosenstein has been indicted on murder and manslaughter charges, officials in Jerusalem said Tuesday.
The single murder charge and two manslaughter counts stem from the 2001 killings of three alleged criminal rivals on a Tiberias beach, The Jerusalem Post reported.
The newspaper said Rosenstein is currently serving a 12-year sentence on U.S. charges of trafficking in the drug Ecstasy. He was first linked to the three slayings by a suspect taken into custody last year during a massive police raid on a cocaine smuggling ring, in which 26 people were arrested.
The Post said the witness told police Rosenstein had ordered the murders of reputed gangsters Rafi Weitzman, David Ben-Mergi and Sharon Musawi, as retaliation for an alleged attempt to have Rosenstein killed in 1996.
