NEW YORK, April 10 (UPI) -- Experts are trying to figure out what the Conficker worm is up to, and two U.S. security companies issued reports Thursday.
Before April 1, computer users were warned that the worm was set to become active that day. But April Fools' Day passed with few problems, analysts said.
Symantec said Thursday computers infected with the worm, which it calls W32.downadup, have been linking to high-profile sites, Business Week reported. But Symantec said all the computers do is check the date.
The worm is set to disable itself May 3, Symantec said.
Trend Micro warned "that cybercriminals behind the notorious Conficker worm may finally be gearing up for more serious attacks."
The company had little evidence for that statement, Business Week said.
