Swarms of earthquakes shake California

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Residents of California's Imperial Valley are getting all shook up from the hundreds of earthquakes that hit the area in the past week, a report says.

The rash of quakes, known as a swarm, from tiny to teeth-rattling, has rocked the border cities including Calexico and El Centro since last Friday, the Los Angeles Times said. Tremblors in varying sizes can strike every few minutes. Sometimes they seem non-stop, residents say.

Calexico resident Barbara Lopez, a leasing agent who has had several sleepless nights, says it's "scary." "You're like constantly thinking, 'Is the Big One going to hit?'"

The quakes are mostly nerve-janglers, authorities said, and there have been no reports of damage or injuries. But, two topped 5.0 on the Richter scale and three others topped 3.0.
