MANCHESTER, N.H., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- The latest CNN/WMUR poll has Democratic presidential contenders Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama neck-and-neck in the home stretch of the New Hampshire primary.
Sens. Clinton and Obama each had 33 percent of the vote while Sen. John McCain held a somewhat surprising lead among the Republicans with two days to go before the critical vote, CNN reported Saturday night.
Sen. John Edwards was third among Democrats with 20 percent followed by Bill Richardson (4 percent) and Dennis Kucinich (2 percent).
"Both Obama and Edwards appear to have benefited from the Iowa caucuses," opined CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider. "Each picked up three points in New Hampshire. Clinton lost one point,
since our last poll taken before the caucuses."
The veteran McCain proved some new momentum in the GOP race. He led with 33 percent to Mitt Romney's 27 percent and Rudy Giuliani at 14 percent. Iowa winner Mike Huckabee notched 11 percent and Ron Paul tallied 9 percent.
The CNN/WMUR poll surveyed 359 New Hampshire Democrats and 313 Republicans with an error margin of 5 percentage points either way.
