Marines drop teen who wrote violent essay

CHICAGO, April 28 (UPI) -- The U.S. Marines dropped a Chicago-area teenage recruit after he was charged with disorderly conduct for writing a violence-filled essay at school.

Allen Lee, an 18-year-old honor student at Cary-Grove High School, was to start basic training in October, said Dane Liozzo, his lawyer. "We have a kid whose goal and whose dream was to go in and defend his country," Liozzo told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Lee was expelled from school last week and charged by police with disorderly conduct for an essay he wrote. Lee said he followed his teacher's instructions to "Write whatever comes into your mind. Do not judge or censor what you are writing," Liozzo said.

In the essay, Lee spoke of shooting and stabbing people, having sex with dead bodies and possibly shooting his teacher, The Sun-Times reported Saturday. Lee wrote the essay a week after a deranged student killed 32 students and teachers at Virginia Tech.

Lee had no intention of harming anyone and still hopes to graduate with his class next month, his lawyer said.
