'Cunning' predator gets indefinite term

MIDDLESBOROUGH, England, April 13 (UPI) -- A judge gave a "cunning and devious sexual predator" an indefinite sentence, saying Kevin Toner might never stop abusing children.

Toner, a 20-year-old Middlesborough resident, was convicted of luring a 9-year-old girl into a wooded area and taking pictures with his cell phone as he sexually assaulted her. He had an earlier conviction for sexually assaulting two boys in 2002.

Recorder Jeremy Richardson in Teesside Crown Court said if Toner is free, stringent measures must be taken to prevent him from preying on children, The Sun reported.

"I have no doubt at all you are a cunning and devious sexual predator when it comes to children," Richardson said.

Toner can apply for parole in four years. He must remain on the register of sex offenders for life.

He surrendered after police released pictures from a security camera that showed him following the victim from a bus stop.
