RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Lawyers for two U.S. pilots detained in Brazil following a mid-air crash in September demanded Friday that the pilots be released, O Globo reported online.
Earlier this week a Brazilian judge refused to return the passports of the pilots involved in the collision that left 154 people dead, O Globo reported.

The judge said he would continue to withhold the passports of Jan Paladino and Joseph Lepore until at least next month.
The pilots were operating a small private jet in late September when it clipped a Brazilian commercial airliner. The accident killed everyone onboard the airliner.
