Bomb kills 8 Afghans, 1 NATO soldier

KABUL, Afghanistan, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Eight Afghan nationals and one NATO soldier were killed Friday when a suicide bomber driving a car attacked a convoy of troops, NATO officials said.

Another NATO soldier was wounded in the attack on the NATO convoy, the officials said. Several other Afghans were also injured in the blast in Kandahar City.

A NATO statement did not give the nationality of the soldier killed.

The southern province of Kandahar is a stronghold for the resurgent Taliban movement.
