Teen wounded at 'haunted house'

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Bail has been set at $500,000 for an Ohio man accused of shooting a teenage girl in the head and firing at her friends who were "ghosting" in his backyard.

Allen Davis, 40, of Worthington, Ohio, is charged with five counts of felonious assault for critically wounding Rachel Barezinski, a senior at Thomas Worthington High School, the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch reports.

Davis told police he was in bed when he heard voices in the yard and fired his .22-caliber rifle out the window to scare the trespassers away.

Thinking the noise was made by firecrackers, the teens left but returned to the house located across the street from a cemetery.

It was during a second round of shooting that Barezinski was injured.

She remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Davis' mother says local teens have been harassing the family for a long time, thinking their home was haunted.
