Colombia: Uribe rails against Ecuador

BOGOTA, July 1 (UPI) -- Colombian President Alvaro Uribe criticized neighboring Ecuador Friday for not doing enough to keep Colombian rebels from crossing the border.

Uribe said he expected Ecuador to do more to aid Colombia in its fight against Marxist rebel groups like the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, El Tiempo reported.

Last week FARC rebels attacked Colombian soldiers near the countries' shared border, killing 19 of them, then fleeing to Ecuador where troops could not pursue them.

Colombia has been battling FARC for more than four decades.
