President Bush arrives at the convention on its last day, Sept. 2, triggering a heightened alert.

Military personnel will be equipped with infrared-radar systems that will identify friendly forces and allow would-be terrorists to be seen in darkness.

Members of the Delta Force, Navy SEALs and Air Force specialists will have their own weaponry, most not shared with New York City police.

Lightweight machine guns and all-black coveralls made of flame-resistant Nomex will be paired with the latest bullet proof vests and helmets.

Sunglasses made of super strength polycarbonate will be able to deflect flying debris and small super bright flashlights will be able to temporarily blind suspects.
