Over five years, Cramer allegedly exploited the couple, both in their 90s, out of $4.5 million, Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner said.

Cramer, 34, was known as the couple's "housekeeper" but was accused pf using their money to buy property, houses and cars for herself, Tanner said. She was charged with financially exploiting a vulnerable adult.

Reyes, 48, allegedly went along with her plans and at least one $15,000 check signed by the elderly woman was made out to him. He was charged with criminal conspiracy.

Bluffton Police Chief John Brown suspended both with pay pending the outcome of an investigation.
