LOS ANGELES, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Could Derek Fisher make the rare move of becoming an NBA coach and then returning to the court as a player? He hopes so.
The 42-year-old posted a workout video on Facebook Tuesday and posted about his intent for a return Wednesday on Twitter.
"On-court workouts have been part of my regimen since I played my last game," Fisher tweeted.
"If an NBA team expresses interest, I'm open to dialogue, but at the moment I have no steadfast plan to play again."
Phil Jackson fired Fisher in February, after he signing a multi-year contract to coach the New York Knicks in 2014. The Knicks were 40-96 in Fisher's 1.5 seasons as coach.
"Working on being a better me. Loving every minute of this journey #inthelab #imnotdoneyet #workingonme #biggerthanbasketball #butilovethisgame," Fisher wrote on Facebook.

Fisher averaged 8.3 points, 3 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game in 18 NBA seasons. He won five NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. Lakers legend Magic Johnson was the last player to return to the court after coaching a team.
