The Baltimore Ravens officially signed former first-round running back Trent Richardson on Monday for the start of the offseason workout program.

Talk of Richardson signing with the Ravens began in February at the NFL Scouting Combine and coach John Harbaugh later said the team had an "unofficial" deal in place. Richardson has been working to get his weight down the past two months.

Richardson was the No. 3 overall pick of the 2012 draft by the Cleveland Browns. He was out of football last season.

Richardson, who will turn 26 in July, has played for the Browns, Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders. He has struggled with injuries and his weight over his NFL career, averaging 3.3 yards per carry.

Two games into his second season, the Browns traded Richardson to Indianapolis. He spent two years with the Colts before becoming a free agent in 2015. He signed with Oakland that offseason but did not make the Raiders' roster out of training camp.

Richardson has played in 46 career games, rushing for 2,032 yards and 17 touchdowns.
