NHL: Anaheim 3, Washington 2

WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Hampus Lindholm got the decisive goal in the third period Monday, capping a rally that sent the Anaheim Ducks over Washington 3-2.

The Ducks spotted the Capitals a 2-0 lead in the first period, but came back with goals from Saku Koivu and Andrew Cogliano to forge a tie.

Lindholm netted the game-winner with 5 1/2 minutes left in third as the Ducks extended a club record with a ninth straight win and wrapped up a 4-0 road trip.

Koivu and Cogliano each registered an assist and Jonas Hiller made 17 stops.

The game featured the return of Anaheim Coach Bruce Boudreau to Washington, where he served as head coach from 2007-11 before being fired.

Nicklas Backstrom and Mikhail Grabovski scored for Capitals, who lost for the fourth time in six games.

Philipp Grubauer turned aside 26-of-29 shots.
