DETROIT, June 22 (UPI) -- Victor Martinez pounded a grand slam, finishing with five RBI, and Max Scherzer improved to 11-0 Saturday in Detroit's 10-3 rout of Boston.
Martinez homered with Austin Jackson, Torii Hunter and Miguel Cabrera aboard in the first inning, erasing an early 2-0 deficit, and the Tigers rolled from there.
Martinez later added an RBI double while Omar Infante provided a two-run shot.
Jackson, Hunter and Andy Dirks each supplied three hits for the American League Central leaders, who rebounded from a 10-6 loss to the Red Sox in Friday's second contest of their four-game set.
Scherzer tamed the Bosox on two runs, yielding six hits without a walk while striking out six. He became the first Tigers pitcher since George Mullin in 1909 to begin the season with 11 consecutive victories.
Boston starter Allen Webster (0-2) was lit up for five runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 frames.
David Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a solo homer for the AL East-leading Red Sox.
