Weekley, Manassero up in world golf rankings

VIRGINIA WATER, England, May 27 (UPI) -- Boo Weekley and Matteo Manassero posted tournament wins in Texas and England, respectively, and make impressive climbs in Monday's men's world golf rankings.

Weekley notched his first PGA Tour win in five years in winning the Crowne Plaza Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas, and leaps 56 spots to 55th in the rankings. Manassero, at age 20, became the youngest winner of the BMW PGA Championship and is now ranked 28th, an improvement of 29 places.

The lower tier of the Top 10 undergoes shifts this week with Matt Kuchar, who was runner-up to Weekley, going from 13th to No. 9 while Lee Westwood, tied for ninth at the BMW PGA Championship, is up two places to 10th.

That pushes Phil Mickelson from No. 9 to 11th and Steve Stricker down two to 12th.
