SUNRISE, Fla., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Troy Brouwer capped a furious Washington comeback with an overtime goal Tuesday and the Capitals rallied for a 6-5 victory over Florida.
Down by two goals with 5 minutes remaining the regulation time, the Capitals got late scores from Eric Fehr at even strength and Alex Ovechkin on a power play to force overtime.
Only 32 seconds into the extra frame, Brouwer received a breakout pass from Nicklas Backstrom, skated in on Scott Clemmensen put home the rebound of his own shot for the game-winner.
Mike Ribeiro notched a goal and two assists while Fehr and Ovechkin finished with a score and a helper for Washington, which recorded a second straight win.
Braden Holtby earned the victory with 27 saves.
Jonathan Huberdeau netted a pair of goals while Drew Shore tallied with an assist for the Panthers, who fell for the third time in four contests.
Clemmensen ended with 23 saves in the loss.
