NBA: Denver 99, Charlotte 88

CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 30 (UPI) -- Arron Afflalo led six Denver players in double figures Friday, scoring 19 points and pacing the Nuggets to a 99-88 win over Charlotte.

The Nuggets began the evening tied with Utah and Houston for the final two spots in the Western Conference post-season chase. They improved to 2-3 on a seven-game road trip that will conclude with visits to Orlando and New Orleans.

Corey Brewer added 17 points for Denver and Ty Lawson had 14. The Nuggets made 52 percent of their attempts from the field, although they hit only 2-of-17 from 3-point range.

Charlotte forced 25 Denver turnovers but the Bobcats could make just 17-of-54 field goal tries during the second half.

Gerald Henderson scored 21 to lead Charlotte, which has lost six in a row. The Bobcats have won just seven times this season, five fewer victories than any other team in the NBA.
